Dental Implantology

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that a dentist places into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants are an ideal option for people in good general oral health who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason.

Dental implants are medical devices surgically implanted into the jaw to restore a person’s ability to chew or their appearance. They provide support for artificial teeth, such as crowns, bridges, or dentures.

When a tooth is lost due to injury or disease, a person can experience complications such as rapid bone loss, defective speech, or changes to chewing patterns that result in discomfort. Replacing a lost tooth with a dental implant can significantly improve the patient’s quality of life and health.

Dental implant systems consist of a dental implant body and dental implant abutment and may also include an abutment fixation screw. The dental implant body is surgically inserted in the jawbone in place of the tooth’s root. The dental implant abutment is usually attached to the implant body by the abutment fixation screw and extends through gums into the mouth to support the attached artificial teeth.

THREE TYPES OF IMPLANT SYSTEMS WE ARE USING IN OUR CLINICS:

1)CONVENTIONAL IMPLANT SYSTEM;
Conventional implant is a classical universal method, in which after the placing (screwed) in the spongy bone (soft bone), we must wait for a period of 3-5 months necessary for achieving osseointegration with the bone (ossification).
After this osteointegration period, the implant can be loaded with a crown or bridging structure. Therefore, it is called two-stage implantation.

2) Immediate Loading Implant System;

Immediate loading, otherwise known as Immediate Function, involves the placement of a restoration within 48 hours of implant placement.4 It can be applied if sufficient primary stability is achieved – for a single tooth restoration, this is known as immediate provisionalization.

The technique was developed in response to patients’ growing demand for quicker treatment and faster time-to-teeth.

One of the best benefits of an immediate load dental implant is its capability to provide rapid results. Patients are able to utilize and cherish their newly restored teeth without having to endure several months of waiting for the procedure to be finished.

3) Zygomatic Implant System;

Zygomatic implants are a special type of dental implant. While regular implants are placed into the jawbone, zygomatic implants are designed to be anchored to the zygomatic bones (cheekbones). The zygomatic bones are used because some patients don’t have enough jawbone mass to support a regular dental implant.
